Cae Mabon Clan

We're slowly evolving a crew of people who live here and/or who can support the growth and smooth running of the place.

Eric Maddern

Eric is the founder and driving force behind Cae Mabon. He’s an Australian-born world traveller with Aboriginal roots, Welsh connections and global aspirations. Cae Mabon is very much the consequence of these influences. As well as managing the place he’s also a professional storyteller, and has been performing several shows to inspire action to protect the Earth including ‘What the Bees Know’ and ‘Fire under the Stars’. He has produced two recent albums of his own songs: ‘Full of Life’ (aimed at kids and families) and ‘Rare and Precious Earth’. And he has a dozen children’s picture books in print. In the autumn of 2015 his new book, Snowdonia Folktales was published by History Press. See for more.

Ken Hacking
Ken lives at Cae Mabon and over the years has made the role of groundsman his own. Often to be found in the spring and summer months wielding the brushcutter and mower with flair. He’s handy in other ways too and occasionally has been called on to practise his old trade of electrician. You'll find him cleaning and lighting the hot tub for our groups, or otherwise engaged following the highs and lows of Liverpool Football Club's season.

Angharad Wynne
Eric's partner, Angharad is based in South Wales but comes home to Cae Mabon regularly. She manages the website, recruitment, communications and marketing and helps look after the Cae Mabon bees. She also organises events at Cae Mabon such as ‘Returning to Centre – a Women’s’ Retreat’ and ‘Dreaming the Land’, and can often be found in the roundhouse of an evening, helping out with a few songs and stories around the fire.

Peter Boyd
Those of you who've been to Cae Mabon before will know Peter's work though you may not know Peter! The Tree Goddess carving is his as is the Green Man archway from the car park and the name plates on each of the dwellings. Peter has been creating valuable distinctive sculptures for 25 years, and been a friend of Cae Mabon for almost as long! His passion is for making inspiring forms from trees. He has worked and exhibited internationally in such places as The European Academy of Art in Germany, The Salvador Dali Museum, Spain, Lanzarote and France. For more about his work see

At Cae Mabon Peter helps out with hosting, maintenance and all sorts of beautifying tasks and will also be offering some wood carving courses here throughout the year so look out for details on this website and our Facebook page.

Nicola & Michele
Nicola and Michele, have been with us since May 2016. During this time their ethos of bringing harmony and balance back into our communities and the world at large has shone through in their love, care and attention for the land and the spirit of Cae Mabon.

Italian born Michele has the needs of our guests at heart, making sure that they are always attended to. Nicola spends some time looking after the admin and housekeeping side of things at Cae Mabon, and together they help prepare Cae Mabon for our guests. They also provide catering for some of our groups and cook up delicious, wholesome meals, often inspired by their previous lives in Italy and travels across other parts of the world.

Nicola is a fully qualified Shamanic Practitioner and Shadow Worker who works mainly with women, empowering them to get to the root of who they are by unravelling their stories and reweaving their lives, through the sacred medicine of the drum and the shamanic journey. Nicola facilitates empowerment and healing circles and retreats for women and a drumming circle for the wider community within the grounds of Cae Mabon. Claire Freeman
Claire joined the Cae Mabon community in October 2016, around the time of the Celtic festival of Samhain, often seen as the beginning of the wheel of the year. Claire will be around to welcome those of you that come to experience the magic and simplicity of life here at Cae Mabon, and helps out with the important preparation before arrival and house-keeping. She enjoys taking time to tune into the rhythms of nature here, spending time walking in the woods and mountains. This year sees Claire beginning her journey training as a Doula, inspired to do so after serving as a birth partner for a close friend.

Claire is a talented massage therapist, reflexologist and energy worker by trade and guests are welcome to book in with her for a treatment to further enhance their relaxation and rebalancing time here at Cae Mabon. For further details please contact Claire direct on 07426 894 640.
